Liebe Balladfreunde !
Wir haben uns wieder ein Jahr Zeit genommen für eine Segelreise und werden schauen wie weit wir kommen.
Von der norditalienischen Lagune über die kroatischen Inseln sind wir die Adria runter.
Durch die Straße von Messina zu den Liparischen Inseln mit den aktiven Vulkanen, weiter ans Ende von Sizilien, Sardinien und dann zu den Balearen.
Gibraltar ist für uns immer ein Meilenstein, sind es doch bis hierher schon 1.800 sm und für uns ist es das Tor zum Atlantik.
Die Orcas waren auf Erholung im Norden Portugals, laut einer App der Naturschutzbehörde und so kamen wir mit heilem Ruder in Madeira an. Für uns ein Umweg von 200 sm am Weg zu den Kanaren, aber der ist es wert.
Die ersten heftigen Tiefs rauschten heran und wir nahmen die Rückseite und segeln zu den Kanaren. Für euch im Norden war das Tief weniger brauchbar, was der Bruch in den Häfen gezeigt hat.
Der Passat beginnt sich gerade durchzusetzen und bald soll es weiter gehen zu den Cap Verden.

Dear Ballad friends !
We have taken another year off for a sailing trip and will see how far we get.
From the northern Italian lagoon via the Croatian islands we travelled down the Adriatic.
Through the Strait of Messina to the Aeolian Islands with their active volcanoes, on to the end of Sicily, Sardinia and then to the Balearic Islands.
Gibraltar is always a milestone for us, as it is already 1,800 nautical miles away and for us it is the gateway to the Atlantic.
The orcas were resting in the north of Portugal, according to an app from the nature conservation authority, and so we arrived in Madeira with our rudder intact. A diversion of 200 nm for us on the way to the Canary Islands, but well worth it.
The first heavy lows rushed in and we took the back and sailed to the Canaries. The low was less useful for you in the north, as the break in the harbours showed.
The trade wind is just beginning to assert itself and soon we should be heading for Cap Verde.
